Carpeting 101

It is important to select the correct flooring for your home. Let us educate you in carpet types.

INVISTA verifies the durability performance of STAINMASTER® carpet by Vettermann Drum testing using the ASTM D5417 test method. A 16 pound steel test ball (Fig. 1) is placed inside a drum lined with carpet (Fig. 2), and the drum rotates 5,000 times, simulating the wear of an estimated 60,000 footsteps. The carpet is then inspected and graded on a special rating scale to determine how it performed. In order to ensure that every STAINMASTER® carpet delivers the durability performance required by INVISTA, each style must achieve a minimum required Vettermann Drum rating – or it won't say STAINMASTER®.
